Have you been to Cagayan de Oro City lately? I am asking this because if you haven’t, I’m sure that when you come again, you will be surprised and impressed with what’s going on in the City. In a nutshell, there’s just no stopping Cagayan de Oro from progressing!
For starters, there are at least 2 huge constructions going on now for two (2) malls – the Centrio by Ayala along CM Recto Avenue and the Paseo Del Rio along the new Macasandig & Carmen Bridge.
Then there’s the ongoing construction of what is described as the would-be tallest building in the City – the Gateway Tower in Limketkai.
The construction of the new fly-overs in the City may have inconvenienced a lot of commuters, but it’s still a very welcome development. These two new fly-overs are in the Carmen-Macanhan area and in the Lapasan area.
The Agora Market in Lapasan is now called Market City which now houses the new SM Savemore, and it’s bigger, cleaner, and safer. A lot of boutiques can also be found in the Mall-like structure, plus the famous restaurant Mang Inasal.
Along Kauswagan Highway, or in the Kauswagan Junction, from where the old Makro was, is the new SM Savemore Kauswagan. It’s big and just like the main SM Savemore in the SM City; it’s an ideal place to shop for groceries.
And there‘s the numerous new hotels like NHotel which caters to the growing clientele of the City, from local tourist to convention attendees or participants.
The number of subdivisions and condominiums in the City has also increased tremendously; so fast that I get surprised every time I pass by one new development after another, especially in the upper Carmen area and in Kauswagan.
For people who love to shop and go malling, Limketkai is simply a destination to include in your itinerary. Limketkai Mall is described by many as Glorietta-like; fully air conditioned with upscale stores that sell clothes, bags, shoes, jewelry, appliances, mobile phones and other electronic gadgets, and plenty of restaurants and food chains.
Of course there’s also SM City in upper Carmen; and as can be expected, SM City is another good place to shop and dine and spend time with the family. It has one of the best grocery stores in the City; then there’s the SM Superstore known for their numberless stocks of shoes for men, women, and children. SM City is also home to lots of restaurants and fast food chains that offer affordable food for everybody! SM Mall also has 4 movie houses; beauty salons like David’s Salon and Salon de Rose.
And this list can go on and on …
